“Your dignity is surplus to requirements. I've fulfilled your request wonderfully. My uniform from last year matches your demands to the letter.”

This wasn't matching my demands.

This was setting fire to every other item on the menu so only one remained.

With every office orientated garment in her wardrobe tossed to one side, all that remained there was an outfit in far more immaculate a condition than something sharing the same space as a colony of moths was ever allowed to be in.

“There's no way your wardrobe is so severe that all you have is office wear for the office job you don't have. What happened to all your normal clothes?”

“A high school uniform is the epitome of normal clothes.”

Thinking about it, my not-pyjamas weren't that bad. I turned back to the mirror.

“You know what, I'll just wear what I came in.”

“No.”

“You can't just say no and expect me to be okay with it.”

“I'll pay you.”

“You want me to wear your uniform that badly?!”

“No, what I want is your loyalty, your devotion, and your subservience. But today, I'll make do with your gratitude. I'm handing over my own precious uniform so save you, and by extension myself from the morbid embarrassment that will arise from your arrest for violating public decency.”

“My co-ordination isn't that bad you know?!”

A familiar burden straddled my shoulders as I attempted to parse a conversation with Sonoda. Talking to her was like trying to climb a mountain using my pinky. Only stress and soreness awaited me for all that extra effort.

“I refuse to believe this is all you have,” I said, glancing over at Sonoda's own shockingly ordinary attire. “What about the ones you have on now? Where did they come from?”

“You want me to undress and hand over my clothes? That is remarkably scandalous, even for you.”

“I'm the one scandalised here. I'm surprised you don't insist I wear your underwear too.”

Without missing a heartbeat, Sonoda moved her fingers to pinch the hem of an invisible skirt.

Foiled by her leg wear, she pursed her lips and spent a clear moment wondering whether to unbutton her jeans.

Sometimes, the line between being a prude and a pervert stretched from one end of the equator to the other. Sometimes, it was the distance between the word 'underwear' leaving my lips and entering her ears.

“I'd never suggest that,” she said, lying as as she breathed.

“You don't need to. I already feel soiled.”

“And yet you still wore it.”

“I feel like the alternative of arguing with you for a prolonged period of time is worse.”

“Well, there's no need for us to stay prolonged here now that your secret desire to feel shamed has triumphed. Will you help me see my plan to fruition now?”

“So you're actually asking and not just telling, huh?”

“I always ask. I'm just not very good at phrasing it.”

“Yes, I'm sure you have normal hobbies, too. You're just very bad at looking it.”

“If that libellous remark is a yes , let's walk to the metro.”

“We're taking the metro?”

“To different places. As per my good idea.
